INEC tasks Gombe CSOs, PWDs on hitch-free elections

The  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Gombe State, has tasked all Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) to sensitise their people on free, fair and credible elections in the state.

Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner made the call during a sensitisation forum held in Gombe State on Tuesday.

He said arrangements had been concluded by the commission for hitch-free elections, adding that the residents are expected to support it.

He also advised them to mobilise their members to collect their PVCs to enable them vote for credible leaders.

According to him, special treatment will be given to PWDs during the elections to enable them vote successfully.

In his remarks, Mr Bachama Yusuf, state Secretary of CSOs, commended INEC for creating awareness and pledged support towards a free, fair and violence free elections in the state.

He urged the commission to identify areas that needed more sensitisation to enable them reach such places for more awareness.

Mr Ali Goro, state Chairman PWDs also lauded the initiative of INEC for making arrangements for them to vote with ease. (NAN)
