Industrialisation: Nasarawa looks to Poland for training of engineers, scientists, others

The Nasarawa State Government is partnering with Poland for the training of indigenous scientists, engineers and technicians, towards meeting the expected demands of such professionals, when its industrialisation policy comes into full swing.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of the state made this known when he hosted the Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Joanna Tamawska, at the Government House, on Wednesday.

Governor Sule said Nasarawa State was in dire need of scientists, engineers and technicians, that will man the industries coming into the state, stressing that, Nasarawa will work closely with Poland towards ensuring that citizens of the state, are trained in these much desired technical areas.

According to the governor, with Poland excelling in the areas of science, mining and agriculture, Nasarawa is interested in working with Poland, especially in the areas of science, agriculture and mining.

Governor Sule disclosed that this has become even more imperative, considering that the state is about to organize an event to attract investors in the area of oil and gas, having already met with officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), regarding the Akwa-Ibom-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline.

“Those investors are going to assist when it comes to the industrialization of our state. By the time we have those industries, we need scientists, technicians and engineers, to work in those areas,” he stated.

Commenting on agriculture, the governor recalled his advice to President Muhammadu Buhari, while being inaugurated as member of the National Steering Committee on the Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy, that agriculture, remains the surest way to lift 100m Nigerians out of poverty.

Engineer Sule equally sought the support and cooperation of Poland in the area of agriculture.

The governor thanked the Polish Ambassador for undertaking the visit, assuring her of mutual support and cooperation, as Nasarawa and Poland, work to strengthen the already existing ties between them.

Earlier, the Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Joanna Tamawska, said she was in Nasarawa State, in a bid to further strengthen the ties between her country and Nasarawa State.

Tamawska adde that both herself and officials of the Polish embassy in Abuja, will always work tirelessly, to develop the ties existing between Nasarawa State and Poland.

She however noted that, the relationship should be two-way, an exchange of experience, knowledge and know-how, between Poland and Nasarawa State.

” I’m looking forward to academic exchange and for our scientists to come to Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and for your scientists to go to Poland,” she said.

The Polish Ambassador explained that there were many avenues for cooperation between her country and Nasarawa State.
