A group, under the aegis of Imo Victory League (IVL), has appealed to Sen. Ifeanyi Araraume, Mrs. Chidinma Uwajumogu and other  aspirants, who lost in the just concluded primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Imo North Senatorial by-election, to accept the outcome in good faith.

The group, in a press statement signed by the Chief Convener, Sir Paul Nwachukwu, Co Convener/Head Contact & Mobilisation,  Chief U. D. Ejelonu (Agudo), and other stakeholders,  said this was necessary for the good of the party and the zone.

The group told all the aggrieved APC aspirants to calm down and put the interest of the party and zone first.

Acknowledging that all the aspirants are eminently  qualified and have the capacity to be the senator of Imo North, the group noted that since it was the will of God for Sir Frank Ibeziem to emerge the winner, insisting that there was a very great need  for all to close ranks to ensure that APC wins the main election on October 31.

The group argued that Okigwe Zone must move forward like other zones in the state, adding that all should support  Ibezim’s candidacy, as doing so would augur well for the both the APC and Okigwe Zone.

The group further commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for his leadership capacity and allowing a level-playing ground for all the aspirants in the keenly contested primaries.

They lauded the governor’s vision of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery of Imo State and pledged their support his policies, programmes and projects.

The statement said,  ”As the dust settles in the aftermath of APC Senatorial primaries held on September 3 and the emergence of the APC candidate, Sir  Frank Ibezim, for the October 31 by-election, we the members and leadership of  Imo Victory  League, which cuts across all strata of our society, hereby pledge our total support to Senator Hope Uzodinma, Governor, Imo State, and the Chief Marcellus Nlemigbo-led Exco of Imo State APC.

“We sincerely thank His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma (Onwa) for his display of political maturity,  neutrality and according a level playing ground to all aspirants in the just concluded APC primaries.

“We thank the National Executive committee of APC, led by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, for standing firm with the wishes of the Imo  North  electorate, who trooped out en masse to cast their vote for Sir  Frank  Ibezim.

“Imo Victory League is hereby pleading with all aggrieved aspirants to accept the outcome of the primaries since Imo North people have spoken loud and clear; making sure that Sir Frank Ibezim wins the by-election proper should be the concern of all APC members as the victory is for everyone.”

The IVL, however, thanked all  the aspirants who have accepted the result of the primaries for their high sense of patriotism and used the opportunity to warn members of the party against pulling down an edifice they are meant to preserve, noting that the only way to support Governor Hope Uzodimma is by making APC stronger in Okigwe Zone.
