Imo guber: APC members desert Party in droves, join Labour Party for Achonu

The support base of Senator Athan Nneji Achonu, the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in the November 11 governorship in Imo State, is swelling astronomically.
During his home-coming campaign rally in Ehime Mbano, Achonu received the hundreds of  decampees from the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by a former lawmaker and APC chieftain, Chief Owo Iwundu, 
Also, the chairman of ADC, in the council area, Nze Columba Ezeji, led a horde of his supporters to the Labour Party.
Recieving the decampees, the state Labour Party Chairman, Barrister Calistus Ihejiagwa, commended them for taking the courage to do the right thing and assured them that Senator Achonu would make Imo great again when elected as a governor on November 11,2023.
Addressing the crowd, Senator Athan Achonu, who hails from the council area urged all well meaning Imolites to join hands with him to ‘Take Back Imo’.
He said those who are busy shouting Charter of Equity, must do that with clean hand and not for their selfish interests. He added that they are either not sincere or afraid of their hidden crimes, which Governor Hope Uzodinma could use against them if they failed to support his second tenure bid.
According to Achonu, the only equity is to allow Okigwe Zone complete their term  of another four years and then hand over to Owerri Zone. 
He described Uzodinma as a man who has exhausted any good idea in him, hence planning to export 4000 workforce of the state to modern slavery abroad in the name of securing jobs for them.
Referring to the contract he was awarded by the Federal Government to construct health centres in the 774 local government areas in the country, Achonu explained that he had built the health centres in the  27 local government areas in the state and  fully equipped 26, describing Governor Uzodinma’s threat to arrest him as a huge joke.
Speaking further, Senator Achonu promised that he would bring home all the youths living inside the bush, de-radicalise them and reintegrate them into the society with meaningful jobs.
However, he strongly warned that any of them who rejected the offer of dialogue and continue with criminality would be prosecuted and jailed.
The leading governorship candidate in the poll told Ndi Imo that he had come to guarantee local government autonomy, and restore accountability in governance at all levels.
In his words, “I have come to bring good governance, security, peace and progress to our people.”
The event, which was held at  Lutheran Primary School ground in Umuezeala was not all politics and campaign. It s cultural carnival-like, as the massive crowd of enthusiasts that cut across party lines joined Achonu’s wife,  Her Excellency, Lolo Aisha Chiamaka Achonu, to celebrate her birthday, which coincided with same day.
The Labour Party flag bearer in the November 11 governorship election, Sen Athan Achonu made a triumphant entry into his homeland, Ehime-Mbano precisely on October 26 in a bid to round up his campaign tours of Local Governments in the state.
Also, there were beautiful dance from women, passionate  performances from children and presentation of gifts to Achonu, the incoming governor.
