Imo govt. accuses Okorocha of wasting public funds on substandard projects

Anthony Iwuoma

The Government of Imo State  has accused former Governor Rochas Okorocha of wasting public funds on substandard projects.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, said this in Owerri, said the Governor Hope Uzodinma-led governnment was more interested in safeguarding the lives of the citizens of state rather than the preserving OKorocha’s “disgusting and harmful legacies, which constituted a serious threat to lives.”

Emelumba argued that the allegation by Okorocha that the government was busy demolishing his legacy projects, including the Imo International Conference Centre was false.

The commissioner said: “Okorocha is placing his ego above the safety of the citizenry. It was by the sheer grace of God that the Centre did not collapse and claim innocent lives before now.

“The government has the responsibility to secure the lives of both citizens and visitors by ensuring that anything that constitutes a threat to them is addressed.”
