Imo dep. gov. dismisses resignation report

Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prof. Placid Njoku, has denied reports he has resigned.

He described the report as ‘baseless’.

Prof. Njoku, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ozioma Ukwuoma, insisted that the reports had no iota of truth in it, attributing it to “those who had been working to distabilise the state”.

His statement read in part, “My attention has been drawn to the fake news circulating in the social media purporting that the Deputy Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Prof Placid Njoku has resigned.

“While it remains our practice to ignore such baseless stories, the need to put the truth out to concerned Imo citizens has necessitated this rebuttal.
