Imo CP appeals to media, traditional rulers to aid police in fighting crime

The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Mr. Rabiu Ladodo on Tuesday appealed to individuals, the media and traditional rulers to aid the police in the fight against crime in the state.

Ladodo, who made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Owerri, said all useful information to the police would be treated as confidential.

According to him, Imo citizens should be very bold to give useful information to the police as their identity will always be protected.

“I call on all to understand that fighting crime is everybody’s business and must not be left in the hands of security agencies alone.

“We all have a role to play, the media, the traditional rulers and other stakeholders. We want you to know that police work on useful information,” he said.

He warned kidnappers operating within and outside the state to give up crime because community policing in the state had been strengthened to ensure criminals no longer have a hiding place.

He said: “If you attempt to kidnap, police will catch you and you must face the law, so for your interest give up crime now.”

Ladodo added that the command had studied and taken over flash points in the state.

The CP however expressed worry over the rising level of cultism in  the state and assured that the command would fight it to a standstill. (NAN)
