Imo Assembly hammers Udenwa, Ohakim, Okorocha, others

The Imo State House of Assembly, on Thursday, passed into law a bill which would stop past governors and Speakers of the state’s Assembly from receiving their pensions and other privileges.

The Executive bill was presented by the Majority Leader of the House, Uche Ogbuagu, and given accelerated hearing.

Speaking to newsmen, Ogbuagu said the bill would go a long way in saving cost for Imp State.

According to him, the state loses about N1.3 billion annually to offset the bills, a sum he described as humongous enough to pay workers’ salary.

He, however, commended Governor Hope Uzodinma for assenting to the bill, adding that Imo State would soon enjoy the benefits derivable from the law.
