I’ll work with anyone who emerges PDP presidential candidate –David Mark

Peoples Democratic Party presidential aspirant, Senator David Mark, has said that should he fail to clinch the party’s ticket, he would work with any candidate chosen to fly the PDP banner at the 2019 presidential poll.

Mark, a former Senate president, gave the commitment at the PDP secretariat in Birnin-Kebbi, during his visit to members of the party on Monday, ahead of the party’s presidential primary.

Mark said he had kept faith with the PDP, choosing not to defect when others were abandoning the party.

“When other people were leaving PDP, I told my people that I would remain in the party. Today, you can all testify to what had happened. When the road was very tough, many people left, but I remained in PDP.

“Let me assure you, my people of Kebbi State and our supporters across Nigeria that I am ready to work with any aspirant that emerges as our presidential candidate.

“If I emerge too, I will work with all the aspirants and other stakeholders to dethrone the APC government.”

He told delegates and party chieftains that his past experiences in public office had prepared him for the position of the nation’s president, stressing to restore peace, security and unite Nigerians irrespective of their religious leanings and tribes.

“I will be more committed to add values to our women and youths if elected as president in 2019.  I believe that the future of this country depends on women and youths development. They are playing a vital role in the development this country.

“I am seeking the Peoples Democratic Party ticket to contest the 2019 presidential poll to also bring about peace and development to the people of entire Nigerians, including people of Kebbi State,” he stressed.

Speaking earlier, Kebbi State Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Haruna Saadu, described the former Senate president as the type of leader Nigerians needed to stabilise and reposition the country in all sectors.

He added that he and other presidential aspirants were men of integrity, vision and statesmen who had earned good reputation for themselves through public offices they had held in past, while assuring him of the support of PDP members in Kebbi State.
