Igboho ignored our warnings, says Yoruba monarch

Anthony Iwuoma

A top Youruba monarch, Ọba AbdulRasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo,  has said the rebuff they got from Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, could be responsible for the traditional rulers’ silence over his ordeal in the hands of men of the Department of State Services, DSS.
The home of the Yoruba Nation promoter was raided by security operatives, forcing him to go underground even as police have declared him wanted.

The DSS allegedly killed two persons and arrested 13 others during the raid.

However, speaking in an interview with BBC Yoruba, Oba Akanbi noted that though many of the Yoruba monarchs were in agreement with  Igboho’s agitation against killer herdsmen, they disliked his approach but their warnings were largely ignored.

Moreover, the Oluwo said the Yoruba Nation agitators, including Igboho, failed to  consult Yoruba monarchs properly and carry them along.
