The last is yet to be heard about the COVID-19 palliatives that were looted in some states during the #EndSARS protests across the country.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), on Tuesday, stated that it would probe the sources of the looted items.

The Commission’s spokesperson, Mrs. Azuka Ogugua, disclosed in a statement, in Abuja, that the decision was in response to growing public demands on the commission to investigate and unravel the reason for storing the relief materials in warehouses across the country instead of distributing them to the suffering masses.

“In view of the recent looting spree, ICPC will investigate the sources of goods looted from palliatives warehouses, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and private houses to unravel whether or not the properties looted were personally acquired, the government procured, CACOVID donated, or are empowerment materials, which are part of the constituency projects initiatives of the Federal Government,” the statement said in part.

It also revealed its plans to increase the monitoring of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), which are responsible for the acquisition and distribution of COVID-19 palliative materials, promising to make public its findings in due course.
