The senator representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly, Sen. Seriake Dickson, has joined the long list of well-meaning Nigerians congratulating a former Military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida on his 80th birthday.
In a statement, Sen. Dickson said that former military president has contributed immensely to the development of Nigeria today.
Sen. Dickson’s statement read, “My family and I join numerous friends and well wishers across the country and beyond to congratulate General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida GCFR, former Head of State of Nigeria and foremost elder statesman on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

“He has made profound contributions to Nigeria in the course of his many decades of service among other things, as Chief of Army Staff, Military President and currently as Elder statesman who has paid his dues in nation building and continues to be a father to generations of leaders.
“I particularly appreciate that in the course of my service as Governor of Bayelsa State for 8 years and even now as a senator of the Federal republic he has always been available for counsel, advice and to share his perspectives which are always refreshing.
“On his 80th birthday, my family and I felicitate with him, his family, friends and admirers worldwide and pray for many more happy returns in good health as he continues to be of service to the nation and to humanity.”
