I wasn’t aware of Arapaja’s visit to Abeokuta – Ogun PDP chair

Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Dr. Sikirulai Ogundele, has said he was not informed of the visit to the state, today, by the National Vice Chairman (South West) of the party, Amb. Taofeek Arapaja.

Dr. Ogundele, who said it was strange that the Zonal Chairman could visit former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, without informing the party’s structure in Ogun state, said it was obvious that he (Arapaja) was still acting as the same script he acted as Zonal Chairmanship aspirant.

The Ogun State PDP Chairman said in a statement on Saturday, that it was important that he made his position clear to the public to avoid being seen as deliberately shunning the Zonal Chairman’s visit.

He counselled Arapaja to purge himself of sectionalism, saying; “having extended hands of fellowship to him, it is obvious that he wants to function as a sectional Zonal Chairman and we will keep watching him.”

He said “visiting former President Obasanjo in Abeokuta like an orphan is a slap on the PDP as a party and the earlier Ambassador Arapaja begins to see himself as zonal Chairman of all members of the party in the South-West, the better for him.”

While describing as unacceptable, the situation whereby Ambassador Arapaja was now going cap in hands to seek fund for the running of the party in the zone, Dr. Ogundele said he wondered why Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State could not fund the Zonal Exco.

He described the visit to Obasanjo to seek link to some money-bags to be visited to beg for fund as a slap on the party in the zone, adding that what should be paramount to the Arapaja led zonal Exco was the bringing together of all stakeholders in the party.
