Huawei hosts over 150 partners at global launch of its Wi-Fi 6 in Nigeria

Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria Ltd, on Friday hosted over 150 partners at the global launch of its Wi-Fi 6 in Nigeria to discuss network solutions for business development.

Mr Matamela Mashau, IP Chief Technology Officer, Huawei Southern Africa, said this at the event with the theme `Rethink IP 2019’ in Abuja.

According to Mashau, the global annual IP club event brings together Information Communications Technology (ICT) industry experts across public and private sectors to discuss network solutions for business development.

Speaking on Huawei’s enterprise network solutions, he said the company’s investment in Research and Development (R&D) was core strength to its continuous innovation and competitive advantage.

“Huawei Technologies invests over 10 percent of sales revenue in R&D over the last 10 years.

“Also the Huawei’s global resources are channeled to local operations to better serve its customers,” he said.

The Wi-Fi 6, which is the latest and fastest in terms of speed and digital transformation, was launched in Nigeria by Mr. Eason Dong, Solutions Sales Director, Huawei Nigeria Enterprise.

Mr Alan Jin, Enterprise IP Manager, Huawei Nigeria, described Huawei’s cloud campus solutions as “intent-driven”.

He added that the full lifecycle of Huawei’s cloud management reduced operating expense by 80 percent.

Mr Abdul-Malik Suleiman, Group Head, Business Development, Galaxy Backbone Ltd, one of Huawei’s partners, commended the company for its continuous support over the past 10 years and highlighted the company’s responsiveness, innovation and client service structure.

He said Huawei enabled Galaxy Backbone build the first and only 3 Tier data centre in Nigeria and expande its metro fibre from Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to other states in the country.

Mr Felix Agada, Head of ICT, Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) shared the history of digitisation for the NPS, commending Huawei Technologies for its partnership.

According to Agada, Huawei has enabled the NPS enjoy full connection and database management.

“Today, we can confidently and remotely identify all inmates across the country while granting them effective access to justice.

“Before, it took three months to collate the full database of the institution,” Agada said.

According to a white paper on Wi-fi 6, in the next three to five years, technologies such as 4K/8K Ultra HD Video, IoT, virtual reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and automatic guided vehicle (AGV) will be widely used in education, enterprise, and industrial automation.

It highlighted why Wi-Fi 6 would meet future development requirements in terms of bandwidth, latency, connection quality, transmission efficiency, and terminal power consumption management.

Huawei Technologies said the company released the first Wi-Fi 6 AP in the industry, which is also the first to be verified by Tolly, a reliable hands-on evaluation and certification ICT company.

The company reiterated its commitment to build a safe and sustainable software ecosystem to provide the best experience for all its users globally. (NAN)
