Four persons were killed while 50 others were abducted when gunmen struck in Goran Namaye town in Maradun Local Government Area, of Zamfara State, the state police command has confirmed.
Spokesman of the state command, Muhammad Shehu, a Superintendent of Police, on Monday told newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, that the attackers invaded the community in the night and committed the heinous crime.
However, Yakubu Elkana, the state police commissioner, has ordered an immediate search and rescue operation for the victims and urged the residents of the area to remain calm.
The CP added that the command was working with other security agencies to maintain law and order in the area.
