Unknown gunmen suspected to be sympathisers of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Tuesday killed an Anglican pastor, Emeka Merenu, in Iheteukwa, Orsu Local Government Area of Imo state.

The assailants also burnt the pastor’s car.

Merenu hails from Amorji Agbomori in Nkwerre LGA.
He was killed hours after gunmen had on Monday  invaded Comprehensive Secondary School, Nkume in Njaba Local Government Area, and chased away students who were writing the ongoing 2021 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, WASSCE.
It was gatered that Merenu’s killing was not unconnected to his alleged invitation to soldiers to protect the mission school, where he serves as the principal, to enable the students to write their exams.

Spokesman of Imo State Zpolixe Command, Michael Abattam, confirmed the sad incident, promising that the command would investigate the killing of the cleric.
