Group credits Lagos by-elections victory to Sanwo-Olu’s performance

A Lagos based pro-democracy group, Egbe Omoluabi Eko, has given Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu the credit for his party’s (All Progressives Congress (APC), victories in the recently conducted by-elections in the state.

A statement from the Convener of the organization, Comrade Ekundayo Ibrahim, stated that, the credit went to the governor because it was certain that the people of Lagos voted for his party’s candidates to show appreciation for his good performance in office.

The two candidates that stood the elections are Babatunde Abiru for the Lagos East Senatorial District and Obafemi Saheed for the Kosofe Consistency 11 for the State’s House of Assembly.

It could be recalled that the two by elections were held to choose replacements for two deceased lawmakers, Senator Bayo Osinowo of the Lagos East Senatorial District and Hon. Tunde Braimoh representing Kosofe 11 Constituency in the Lagos House of Assembly before their demise.

The results of the elections declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), showed that the two candidates of the APC, Prince Tunde Abiru and Obafemi Saheed were overwhelmingly elected to replace Osinowo at the Senate and Obafemi Saheed to occupy the seat vacated by Tunde Braimoh at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The group leader expressed conviction that the victories could be traced to the laudable achievemen Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in office, observing that, “the victories were signs of reciprocity of the people for the governor’s good work from the time he ascended the state’s gubernatorial throne.”

Ekundayo therefore commended the highly enlightened Lagos people for their solidarity with the governor and his party through their solid support and appreciation of Sanwo-Olu’s good work, enthusing that, their confidence reposed in him and his team would not be betrayed.

Lagos people, the youth leader said, have once again spoken that their choice of Sanwo-Olu in 2019 governorship election was not a mistake and misnomer, expressing the delight that, the results of the elections have shown that Sanwo-Olu has not disappointed them and so, there was never any cause for regret.

Ekundayo further noted that, the positive outcome of the  by-elections has further reinforced the belief that Sanwo-Olu’s performance would give Lagos to APC again in 2023, pointing out that, “Lagos people are so cosmopolitan, electorally mature and democratically enlightened disband a winning team that is not only doing well now but has all the potentials for winning always.”

Ekundayo, therefore, urged the people to sustain their support, assistance and cooperation with the Sanwo-Olu’s administration, reminding that, the art of governance is a collective responsibility of all and not a sole duty of those in authority alone.
