Grazing: Buhari’s in-law urges restraints, calls for dialogue

Emir of Bichi and in-law of President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, has urged both the Federal and states governments to sheathe their swords and sit down to properly discuss solutions to the issues arising of grazing for cattle in the country.

The Emir, who spoke Arise TV, however, cautioned promoters of different policies for grazing.

Ado Bayero is the first Emir of Bichi, a Hausa traditional emirate in Kano State.

He stressed that from creation, the Fulani had been herding saying that had been their main occupation.

The Emir maintained that he understood the Federal Government’s position and that of the state governors, saying that both positions have merits.

He advised that both parties should endeavour to create opportunities for dialogue and intelligent examination of points for agreed terms and conditions.

“It is not something that cannot be resolved. Both parties should find time to sit down and discuss whether open grazing or ranching should be adopted,” he advised.
