Al -Hatyq FC has emerged winner at the 2019 edition of the KOLAtoons Inter- community soccer tourney after beating AC Milan 3- 0 at the Gbeleyi Primary School Playground, Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Ijaye, Lagos.
A brainchild of KOLAtoons Soccer Initiative (KSI) in conjunction with BlackHit Sportertainment (BHS) and D’Labella fx Studio, the tournament is aimed at creating a platform to discover and promote home-grown players within the community and also encourage youths that are passionate about the sport.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Kola Omisore, the founder of Kolatoons Initiative, Dream Foundation, and Creative Director, Verdant Zeal Group noted that KOLAtoons Soccer Challenge formerly known as OMISCO Soccer Challenge, was initiated over a decade ago to support football talents within the community.
‘’With an initial membership of 22 players in 2007, we have grown in line with the phenomenal growth in the popularity of sport in football boasting of over 1000 registered players, and an extended supportive community of up to 1500 people.”
Explaining Further, Kola stated: “Our plan is to continually improve and develop our best players, such that there will be greater opportunities to play at the level of the premier league. This year’s edition has proven to be the best and will help shape the next 5-year plan for KOLAtoons Soccer Challenge.”
“We are proud to announce that from our humble beginning we have nurtured over 10 home-grown players, by giving them opportunities to play within and outside the country and we have products that are currently representing us in Turkey , Portugal and the national teams like; Oduduwa Segun, a member of the Dream team IV (U-23) Olympic team of 2016 led by Samson Siasia.”
Other sporting activities held at the venue of the event was a 1-day boxing tournament within the age bracket (2-10), musical performances by upcoming artistes and a novelty match between De-Genius Olivet Academy and Fackson FC Academy which ended 0-2 in favour of Fackson FC Academy.
