Rivers state Governor, Barr Nyesom Wike has been re-sworn in as the Executive Governor of the state for the next four years.
Governor Wike, his Deputy, Dr Ipalibo Harry Benibo were sworn into office on Wednesday, May 29, by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Adams Iyayi-Laminkara, at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Elekahia road, Port Harcourt.
However, in his inauguration speech, Governor Wike promised to operate an inclusive government with consideration to all tribes and factions of the state.
He said despite the challenges experienced by his led government in the past four years, he is determined to deliver more developmental projects in Rivers.
Acknowledging supports and encouragement from Rivers people during the March 9, governorship election in the state, the Governor said “For us, in all things it is Rivers State first; Rivers State is the measure; Rivers State before others. This is the essence of the political mandate and burden that we will bear for the next four years and we will not disappoint you.

“We will continue to stand up for Rivers State and defend her interest, no matter the challenges or what comes at us”.

On security of the state, Wike urged the federal government to depoliticized the position of security in Rivers state, pledging to make the state unbearable for the criminals and hoodlum.
