Gov. Ortom dares Miyetti-Allah over security of Benue

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has dismissed claims by Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore (MAKH) that its vigilance group was now part of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and is already functional in 36 states of the federation, as a ‘tissue of lies’.

Governor Ortom maintained that Fulani vigilance group did not have a presence in Benue and would never under any guise operate in the state.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ortom, Mr. Terver Akase, on Tuesday, said that the desperation being exhibited by the Fulani socio-cultural group to float a security outfit across the country clearly shows that the group has an ulterior motive.

The statement read, “What Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore fails to understand is that Vigilante Group of Nigeria also does not have a constitutional right to operate in all states of this country.

“The notion that the group is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission does not vitiate any section of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) to confer on it the powers to operate in every state of Nigeria.”
