Google removes Adamu Garba’s Crowwe app from Play Store

Adam Garba’s social media app, Crowwe, has been taken down by Google in its playstore.

It is not yet known why it was removed but the app was massively reported by Nigerians for plagiarism.

It duplicated Spotify’s Terms and Conditions word for word and hyperlinking it to the music app.

Nigerians who spotted the plagiarism reported the infraction to Google and Spotify, which prompted the popular music app saying action is being taken.

Garba designed the app as an alternative to Twitter after he took the social media site to court for inciting Nigerians against the government during the End SARS protest in 2020. He, however, did not show up in court to defend his suit.

The app was not available on Google Play Store on Monday.

Nigerians reacted to the removal of the app on social media.

“Somebody should check up on Adamu Garba. They’ve removed his app from Google Playstore,” Pamilerin Adegoke said on Twitter.

Others said Google’s app store may be banned in Nigeria for removing the app.

Garba is a staunch supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari who’s tweet was deleted by Twitter on June 2, leading to the government banning the microblogging app in Nigeria.
