Ahead of the 2019 General Election slated for February 16 and March 3, some residents of Kaduna State metropolis have called for provision of adequate security, to protect voters and ensure that their votes count.
The residents, who made the call on Wednesday in separate interviews with the News agency of Nigeria (NAN), said security was key to ensuring peaceful, free and fair elections.
Idris Umar, a business man said he and his family had collected their permanent voter cards (PVC) and were ready to vote for their choice in the upcoming elections.

“I have a wife and ten children and each and everyone of them will vote; if at all I couldn’t vote, then it will be as a result of illness or death”, he stressed.
Mustapha Usman, an electorate, said he had saved his PVC for long and would vote for the candidate of his choice on Saturday.
He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free and fair elections adding that youth should accept elections results in good faith.
Another resident, Elizabeth Tosin said she would vote because it is her right as a citizen, and also called on the youth to go out and cast their votes peacefully.
Zinatu Zubairu, a student mentioned that her vote was her right and was ready to vote, urging government to provide adequate security on election day.
However, Amanda Joy, said she would not vote even though she was not satisfied with the way things are in the country.
“I can’t leave home early and join queue just because I want to vote, I will rather not stress myself for nothing,” she said. (NAN)
