Foundation assists babies born with club-foot

Lifegate Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) says it is rendering free treatment and creating awareness on club-foot in babies, particularly in rural areas.

Club-foot is a birth defect in which the foot or feet of newborn is twisted out of shape or positioned inward and downward, making the soles of the feet to face each other.

The Founder of the foundation, Ms Phoebe Ogbaji, whose daughter, Joy, had clubfoot defect, said that the assistance was aimed at ensuring that babies born with such defect enjoy healthy life and walk normally.

Ogbaji said that the free treatment was solely for the less privileged who could not afford to pay for the treatment in hospitals.

She added that the foundation was collaborating with medical professionals in Gboko, Benue State, as well as some philanthropists to support in rendering services.

She, therefore, called on the public and media to create more awareness for parents to seek medical intervention so that babies born with such defects would be treated to enable them to live normally. (NAN)
