The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland after securing a 1-0 victory over Niger Republic in the CAF U -20 Nations Cup.
With the victory, the Flying Eagles moved into the semi final of Niger 2019, where they would on Wednesday face either Mali or Ghana.
The Paul Aigbogun tutored side survived a very difficult game against the hosts who did everything not to disappoint at home.
Ibrahim Alhassan was the man that made victory possible for Nigeria with his 73rd minute strike from a well taken free kick. The hosts had before the goal dominated play as they fancied their chances of going through with a win.
The encounter was one in which Nigeria needed only a draw to go through while Niger needed a win.
The Flying Eagles qualified for Poland alongside South Africa. South Africa secured a 1-0 victory over Burundi to qualify alongside Nigeria. Senegal was the first country to land in Poland.
