This means that Nigerian States’ Legislature and Judiciary Arms no longer have to wait for Governors for funds but would be more independent.

Reacting, Sani took to his Twitter page commending Buhari’s move.

He described the signing of the executive order as a key to protecting democracy.

On his Twitter page, Sani wrote: “Financial autonomy for the states’ legislatures and judiciary is key to deepening, protecting and preserving democracy, justice at the state level.

“Achieving that through constitutional amendment always failed because the state assemblies were blackmailed by Governors to vote against it.”
