FG commended for equipping Fire Service in Kwara

The Kwara State Government has thanked the Federal Government for coming to its aid in the completion of the Kwara Fire Services Training School.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who expressed the appreciation through his deputy, Mr.  Kayode Alabi, commended the Federal Government for the gesture by  donating state-of-the-art firefighting equipment to the state.

The gesture included a fire fighting truck which the Deputy Governor commissioned for the use of the Training School, saying the gesture would strengthen the state government’s preparedness to combat fire disasters and secure lives and properties in record time.

The governor noted that his administration had improved the level of preparedness and response to fire outbreak by procuring two modern rapid intervention fire trucks and one firefighting truck.

Governor AbdulRazaq commended the commitment of the state fire officers in handling the 118 fire calls recorded and urged the people in the state to cooperate with the Fire Services in fighting fire.

Speaking earlier, Controller General (CG) of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Ibrahim Liman, represented by Assistant Controller General, Callistus Agu, explained that the fire truck was deployed to serve dual functions of firefighting and training of firefighters in the North Central Geopolitical Zone of the country.

Dr. Liman added that firefighting was everybody’s business, hence the need for synergy between the Federal and State Governments to contain the menace of fire outbreak.

The CG also solicited for improved training and welfare of state firefighters as practised in other climes.
