Family in Imo kills, buries 28-year-old son for being ‘too stubborn’

A couple and their daughter have been arrested in Imo for killing their son over allegations of stubonness.

Mr Lambert Ukachukwu, his wife, their daughter, and their son, Philip, are accused of killing 28-year-old Chukwuebuka at their home in Duruegwele village, Umueze II, in Ehime Mbano Local Government of Imo State.

The family accused the deceased of being too stubborn and giving them troubles so they allegedly decided to eliminate him.

It was reported that the deceased was hit on the head on September 17, with a piece of wood and left to die. He was then buried in a shallow grave.

The accomplice, the eldest son, who is on the run, is wanted over the death of their last child.

Youths of the Duruegwele community who, noticed Chukwuebuka’s absence confronted the family but they were told that Chukwuebuka had travelled to Ghana.

The daughter eventually confessed to the murder when the youths threatened to burn down the family’s house.

Following the daughter’s confession, the father was forced to exhume his son’s corpse from the shallow grave.

The family is presently at the Imo State Police Command while Philip, the immediate elder brother of the deceased, is on the run.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Police has confirmed the arrest of members of a family.

The murder of the young man was confirmed in a statement released by the Imo State Police and signed by the Police PRO, CSP Michael Abattam.

According to the statement, “Following credible information received by the Imo State Police Command of conspiracy and suspected murder of a young boy by his family members and buried him in a shallow grave in their compound. The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Hussaini psc, immediately dispatched detectives to Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State, the alleged scene of the crime.

“On arrival, the Command’s Operatives based on intelligence interrogated one Robert Anyanwu ‘M’ chairman of Umuezealagwu Umuduruekwe in Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State. And it was revealed that, on 14/9/2021 at about 1200 hours, the Osundu family comprising of Lambert Osundu ‘M’, Ndubuisi Osundu ‘M’ and Rachael Osundu ‘F’ all of Umuduruihiako Umueze ll in Ehime Mbano local government area of Imo State, conspired and beat their youngest brother, Chukwuebuka  Osundu ‘M’ aged 20 years to death for yet to confirmed
