The Nigeria Surfing Federation received a boost recently when professionals in the sport stormed Lagos to have a feel of how the Surfing Sport is being practiced in Nigeria.

Led by Dylan Graves from Puerto Rico, the five experts which include David Malcolm from California, USA, Paul Daniel, South Africa, Oli Hillyer Riley England and Dane Gudauskas also from California, who is globally known for his laughing skills, were received at the Takwabay Beach Lagos by the Technical Director of the Nigeria Surfing Federation, John Adetokunbo Micheletti, Nigerian born Italian who in turn introduced the visitors to Nigerian journalists.

The visitors also used the opportunity provided to donate Surfing equipment to Nigerian Surfers especially the upcoming ones.

Leader of delegation, Dylan Graves in his address said they are on a fact finding mission regarding the growth of the Surfing Sport in Nigeria and to also study the waves just as they have done in other countries they visited.

Graves who is coming to Nigeria for the first time since his 25 years in Surfing Sports despite being in Zambia and South Africa in the past, said Nigeria water is very pure which makes it refreshing, special and unique when compared with that of other countries they have been to.

“It is not many places you will go and find such water and strong waves such as that of Nigeria and it is good for the sport.

“There are a good number of athletes that have great potential for Surfing that we can actually work with in Nigeria. Actually the country has great future in Surfing Sport”, he said.

Technical Director of the Nigeria Surfing Federation John Adetokunbo Micheletti, said his target is to ensure that Nigerian athletes get to know all the technicalities of the sports ahead of future international engagements.

According to Micheletti, Nigerian is blessed with good oceans hence there is no excuse for her athletes not to excel in Surfing sport.
