Ex-President Jonathan denies joining APC

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has rubbished claims that he has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former president ruled Nigeria under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for about six years before he was defeated in the 2015 General elections by incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recalle that, on Wednesday, a report had gone viral on social media that the former president had indicated interest to join the ruling party and dump his party, the PDP.

The report fuelled rumours that the former leader might have plans of contesting for the nation’s top seat again in 2023.

This has turned out to be sheer false.

Mouthpiece of the former president, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, said the news of his principal porting to the APC was ‘Fake News’.

According to him, “The report is Fake News. If he (Jonathan) defects it would be announced through the proper channels.”

Mr. Eze maintained that his boss has not moved or considered moving to the ruling party.

“This is a man that’s very busy with other things”, he said.
