Ex-Nigeria’s Swiss envoy advocates ban on oversea treatments of govt. officials

A one time Ambassador of Nigeria to Switzerland, Amb. Yahaya Kwande, has suggested for the prohibition of treatment of high profile persons abroad.

Amb. Kwande gave the advise, in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on Thursday, as part of precautionary measures in equipping local hospitals in Nigeria to contain spread, and possible treatment of the Coronavirus disease.

According to him, “In the same vein, the elitist practise of sending a privileged few on overseas medical treatment must be stopped immediately.

“We call on government to use the unwanted opportunity of this pandemic to review its public health policies.”

“Our general hospitals and health centres need to be reassessed and reequipped to meet the needs of the common man at minimal costs.”

Kwande’s press text commended efforts of the Plateau State Government toward preventing spread of the virus.

It urged state government to keep fate to it health tips on Coronavirus, saying “government must take steps to enforce the preventive measures announced by the governor the Right Honorable Simon Bako Lalong.”

Meanwhile, some shop owners who flouted government orders and opened shops for business were arrested by the police.

However, the shutting down of some markets places, beer pubs  and other business places almost turned Jos and Bukuru metropolis empty.

But there was a panic purchase of foodstuff by resident of Jos, a buyer said it part of measures to enable self isolation.
