Newly promoted Georgia Liga 2 outfit Zugdidi FC have announced the signing of Nigeria defender and one time Golden Eaglets invitee, Chinedu Nwoloki.
The 22-year-old finalised his move to the Georgian modest club after leaving 3rd division side Sulori Vani.
Nwoloki who is a product of Samjason FC of Igando, Lagos, an amateur league side had previously been linked with moves to some other clubs before agreeing to sign for Zugdidi.
Zugdidi offloaded some of its players and moved swiftly in the transfer window to bring in a replacement in the Nigerian.
The player’s manager and chairman of Samjason Football Academy, Uchenna Samuel Eke told The Nigerian Xpress Sports that his ward made the right decision as two other European clubs, offered more money for the 6.1 feet defender.
“My Georgian partner and I advised him that it was better for his career to continue in Georgia-a place he is already familiar with and where he is already a relative success. I am confident he will help his new team gain promotion,’’ Eke averred.
Eke also described his move as good for the player and for Nigeria in the near future.
“It’s a good move for Nwoloki and Nigeria in the end. He is hardworking, brave, always ready to learn and above all he is determined to get to the top. The young man is a delight for any coach and it’s only a matter of time, Nigeria will start reaping from his talent. He is certainly a future Super Eagles material. We thank God for his progress and we are looking forward to bigger offers in the next transfer window by God’s grace.’’
Meanwhile, the player who has resumed training with his new club has expressed his excitement over the move.
“All the glory be to God for giving me a new opportunity with Zugdidi. I’m looking forward to helping this great club and my new team to win trophies in Georgia,’’ he said.
