Ex-Ag. NDDC MD, Ibim Semenitari dumps APC

A former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Ms Ibim Semenitari, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Rivers State.

An inside source who broke the news about her resignation from the APC, said Ms Semenitari sent a letter to her Ward Chairman in Okrika Local Government Area, stating her resolve to quit the Party.

The source further revealed that she had also notified the former Minister of Transportation and Leader of the Party in the state, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, of her decision to leave the Party.

Semenitari, who served as Commissioner of Information and Communications during Rotimi Amaechi’s administration as governor of the state, walked away from a Party she worked tirelessly for.

Interestingly, the Commissioners who were saddled with managing the image and information of the Rivers State Government during the administration of Hon. Amaechi, have left the former Minister.

Ms Semenitari’s predecessor, Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke, left the Party last year and was received into the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), alongside others, by Governor Nyesom Wike of the state.

However, the future of APC looks uncertain with the continuous defection or resignation of bigwigs.

Recall that Africa Update had reported a fortnight ago that Dr. Dawari George, Celestine Akpobari and Golden Ben Chioma, had quit the Party.

Credible sources have hinted that more prominent members of the party will dump the party in the coming days. Their decision to do so, have not been disclosed.
