Enugu CP sets-up 5-man c’ttee to tackle unprofessional conduct

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr. Sulaiman Balarabe, has constituted a five-man committee to deal with incidences of unprofessional conduct and extortion by its personnel.

Inaugurating the committee on Friday at the Police Headquarters, Enugu, Balarabe said that the state Police Command had no room for impunity among its personnel.

“The command has zero tolerance to unprofessional conduct, especially the issue of extortion and human rights abuses,” he said.

The commissioner said that he had appointed an Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of Department of Operations, Mr Haruna Alaba, with cell-phone number 08033455356, to head the committee.

“The committee is tasked with the responsibility of fishing out any erring corp with particular reference to cases of unprofessional conduct and extortion.

“While ensuring that they are brought to book and given the appropriate disciplinary action,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee comprises Officer in charge of X-Squad; Second-in-command (2i/c) Enugu Area Command in Enugu, Divisional Police Officer of Central Police Station, Enugu and second-in-command (2i/c) Police Mobile Force Squadron 3, Enugu.

The committee will also be visiting police divisions, formations and beats in the course of the exercise of their responsibilities and report promptly to the commissioner of police. (NAN)
