Elections: FG declares Friday, Feb. 22 as public holiday, bankers exempted

The Federal Government has declared Friday, February 22, 2019, as public holiday to enable Nigerians prepare for the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, February 23.

The Federal Government through the ministry of interior declared the holiday on Wednesday, February 20.

It, however, excluded bankers and those providing essential services from the holiday.

The statement read, “ The Federal Government declares Friday 22, February 2019 as work-free day.

“Those providing essential duties and bankers are excluded.

“The work-free day is to enable citizens return to their poling units for the reschedule Presidential & National Assembly elections.

“Security agencies have been directed to ensure safety of lives and property before, during and after the general election.”
