Ekiti PDP: No sharing of party LG, State Excos, caretaker c’ittee member tackles chair

A member of the Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee, Dr. Samuel Omotoso, has described statements credited to the State Caretaker Chairman of the party, Sen. Hosea Agboola, in an interview published in Tribune newspaper of Wednesday, suggesting that party positions in the local government areas and the state would be shared as ‘expression of his personal opinion’ and not the official position of the committee.

Omotoso,  who described Sen. Agboola’s comments in the interview as “watery, nebulous, indeterminate, completely amorphous and meant for the trash bin,” added that “the PDP as a law abiding political party can only obey its own constitution by progressing with the Local Government and the State congresses elections, once the interegnum created by the Covid-19 lockdown is put into abeyance.”

In a release on Thursday, in Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Omotoso said, “Such wishful thoughts as expressed in the interview were better ignored but for the dangers inherent in misleading and misdirecting the public coupled with his garnished misrepresentation of facts, hence the  need for this rejoinder to correct all the infamies stated in the interview by Senator Hosea Agboola.”

Omotoso continued, “There is nothing unifying in anything congress in Ekiti State as erroneously stated by the Chairman, who appears to be more Catholic than the Pope as usual, saying that  since the Chairman is not from Ekiti State, he thus clearly lacks the wherewithal to understand and grasp the depth of PDP politics within the state.”

He pointed out that PDP in Ekiti State never had a history of sharing party positions,  noting that; “even in 2012 when we had the most keenly contested State Congress in which the winner had 318 votes as against 310 votes by the loser,  other positions were not shared and the party went on to win the governorship election two years after.

Omotoso stated further that the National Working Committee of the party, having approved the Ward Congress can only toe the line of its own laws by holding the Local Government and the State Congresses as soon as practicable, thus completing the already initiated processes.

He said anything  different or contrary put by the Chairman in his interview is simply in the realm of self imaginations and therefore amounted to no work done on behalf of no one.

Omotoso wondered where the Chairman got all what he said in his Interview and enjoined the general public to see the interview strictly as his personal opinions, since nowhere was the chairman mandated to speak on behalf of the Caretaker Committe, knowing well that nothing comes from nothing.

He said that the only slogan in the mouths of the party members in Ekiti State is that; ‘KO SI PINPIN’, that is ‘NO SHARING’ at any level, hence “our noble party should put all the necessary machinery in motion to complete the Congresses once the menace of the Covid-19 militating against public gathering is over.”
