Ekiti govt. gives financial aid to less privileged

The Ekiti State Government has disbursed cash gifts to some citizens of the state who had sought government’s support to bail them out of their financial challenges.

Addressing the beneficiaries during the presentation at the Governor’s Office, last Friday, the Chief of Staff to the governor , Hon. Biodun Omoleye said the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led administration was keen on providing succour to the less privileged in the state.

Omoleye  described the grants as an extension of love to the beneficiaries; adding that the gesture is a demonstration that the present administration is attentive to the plight of the people.

He assured that the Fayemi-led government would not fail in delivering the dividends of democracy to the citizenry.

“We understand the financial situations of some of our people and we have decided to assist them in that regard.

“These grants is provided majorly to support students who could not pay their tuitions, some aged ones who could not afford medical bills and to some who’s businesses or petty trades needs some sort of financing,” he said.

Some of the beneficiaries thanked the state government for coming to their aid.

Explaining his needs, 67-year-old Mr. Adeoti Sunday, said he needed the financial assistance to undergo a surgery on his right hand following a previous procedure.

Arolasuyi Ruth Olawumi and Abegunde Bose, both graduates from Ekiti State University explained that they wrote letters to the government seeking  job opportunities but were however enlisted for a grant by the government to start a business.

Another beneficiary, Azeez Ismail from Ado-Ekiti council said he needed the financial assistance to revive his bakery business.

They all expressed gratitude to the government for the grants given them.

Present at the event were the Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Mrs. Bola Solanke, Special Assistant on Youths and Student Matters Mr. Ademiloye, and Special Assistant on Protocol (Government House Facilities) Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim among others.
