Edo PDP chair disowns factional group

Onazena Abbey, Benin-City

Edo State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, has dismissed the existence of  an ‘Integrity Group’, said to be a faction of the party in the state.

He equally urged members of the public to disregard the suspension purportedly slammed on some top members of the party by the group.

Chief Orbih, who spoke with newsmen in Benin-City, said the group has no locus standi to have suspended a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi, a former Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadohme, and a former Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen, from the party over alleged anti-party activities.

Acording to Orbih, “There is no group as Integrity Group in Edo PDP. The respected leaders they mentioned have since sent goodwill messages to the party.

“I have spoken with Senator Yisa Braimah and High Chief Raymond Dokpesi who both promised to do the needful to ensure that we win the 2020 election”.

The group, led by one Jarret Tenebe and a former chairman of Owan West local government area, Mr. Dan Asekhame had, penultimate week, suspended some of the leaders of the party over alleged anti party activities an aftermath of a  stakeholders meeting attended by PDP leaders across the 18 local government areas of the state.
