Ebonyi LG Chair vows never to share council allocation to stakeholders, rather prioritise projects

Clement Nnachi

The Chairman of Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Barrister Eni Uduma Chima, has  declared that his administration would not share the allocation of the council to stakeholders but would rather prioritise the construction of projects that would impact positively on the lives of the citizenry.

Barrister Chima who is seeking re-election in the forthcoming April 25th 2020 Local government election in the state under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) made the declaration at his country home Ekolli Edda after he emerged victorious in the local government Primaries conducted by the Party in the area.

He said that he would consolidate on the construction and rehabilitation of roads, provision of adequate Medicare, basic social amenities that would improve the lives of the people if elected in the scheduled Local Government polls .

“If it is paying tributes to people in terms of sharing Local Government Allocation, we are not prepared to do that even in my second tenure, we share projects rather than sharing  money to stakeholders.

“The number one stakeholder in my priority of stakeholders is the masses , so far they are satisfied, we are satisfied as well.

“When you construct roads, everybody would benefit, when you build hospitals people would access it both the poor and the wealthy.”

The Council boss restated that his second tenure mission if elected would be the completion of all on-going projects embarked upon during his first term, with emphasis on road construction /rehabilitation, provision of health care, and education.

“My mission will be the completion of all on-going projects, we expect to complete the 9.6 km Ekagbue  road that links the council with neighboring Abia State, we construct 4km road in Lower Edda apart from the one we jointly embark upon with the state government.”

Speaking against the backdrop of the threats posed by opposition parties to the victory of PDP in the slated Council polls, Barrister Chima dismissed such insinuations insisting that the party was the only viable one with structures on ground in the entire state.

“I am not even aware that there are other political parties in Afikpo South local Government, even the entire Ebonyi State, if they do, they exist only on paper, the entire council is dominated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

It would be recalled that the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission ( EBSIEC) has slated Saturday April 25th 2020 as the date for the conduct of Local Government election across the 13 Councils in the State .

The Ruling Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in the State had at the weekend conducted its councillorship/chairmanship primaries leading to the emergence of candidates that would fly the party flag during the polls.

Other major opposition political parties in the state notably the All Progressive Congress ( APC), All Progressive Grand Alliance ( APGA) and others are yet to conduct their party primaries to elect candidates that would contest in the scheduled election.
