Security operatives of the Department of Security (DSS) and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are currently engaged in fisticuffs at the premises of the Abuja High Court.

Video footage on social media show the DSS officials chasing, beating and arresting supporters of the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu as his trial resumes today in the nation’s capital.

IPOB members have since vowed to storm the Abuja court in support of Kanu who was rearrested in Kenya and brought back to Nigeria to face charges of terrorism, felony among others.

Some of the arrested IPOB members were chanting songs in support of Kanu and demanding his freedom. They were seen putting on Jewish apparel.

There has been outcry when the DSS accredited only 10 media organisations to cover Kanu’s trial. Many see the move as restriction of the press and a clampdown on freedom of expression.
