Drunken security guard docked for stabbing neighbour

A drunken 32-year-old security guard, Daniel Oko-Oboh, was on Wednesday docked before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stabbing his co-tenant on the face with a sharp object.

The accused, who lives at No. 22 Oluwatosin Street, Iju Ishaga in Lagos State, is being charged for assault.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Matthew Akhaluode, said the accused allegedly stabbed Miss Blessing Ola with a sharp object on the face, following an unresolved argument.

Akhaluode told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 23 at 10.00p.m at their residence.

He said the accused came home drunk on that fateful day and went straight to his neighbour’s door and started hurling abusive words on her.

“The complainant retaliated by abusing the accused too and in the process; the accused stabbed her with a sharp object on the face,” the prosecutor told the court.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. A. Adetunji, granted the accused bail of N100, 000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

Adetunji said the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government and have their addresses verified by the court.

The offences contravened Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, (Revised)

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Section prescribes three years jail term for offenders upon conviction.

The magistrate adjourned the case until February 20 for hearing. (NAN)
