Dortmund set to launch N782m bid  for Osimhen

As Charleroi ace vows to shoot Dream Team to 2020 Olympic glory

The spectacular performance of in-form Under-23 striker, Victor Osimhen for club and country has not gone unnoticed as it has attracted the attention of German Bundesliga giants, Borussia Dortmund.

The striker is reportedly topping the list of Dortmund’s transfer targets this summer. And in a bid to actualize their dream, Dortmund are said to have sent their scouts to Belgium, in order to closely monitor his progress at Westfalenstadion.

Dortmund, The Nigerian Xpress Sports exclusively gathered are ready to spend something in the region of 20 million pounds (over N782 million) on the Nigerian international.

The 20-year-old has found a new lease of life under new manager Felice Mazzu this season after being sidelined by injury before being loaned to Sporting Charleroi by Wolfsburg.

Osimhen  has become a revelation at Charleroi  striking  position since the arrival of Mazzu, and following the planned departure of Christian pulisic to Liverpool or Chelsea this summer, rumors are now rife that he is favored to replace the U.S. international striker.

Our source, claimed the ex Golden Eaglets star is the man very much in frame and may be Lucien Favre’s first summer signing. It however remains to be seen whether Sporting Charleroi will agree to sell their jewel to the one time European champions. Osimhen joined the Belgian club on a season-long loan deal, having failed to score in any of his 16 appearances with Wolfsburg due to injury.

“Injury was not fair to Osimhen during his first season with Wolfsburg but it is a thing of joy that he has bounced back in grand style to become a beautiful bride again after proving his mettle in the Belgian league,’’renowned Italy based football agent, Shedrack Ogu exclusively disclosed to The Nigerian Xpress Sports on phone from his Milan base.

“ I can authoritatively inform you that he is one of the most wanted young players in Europe today with Dortmund and other top European teams leading the race for his signature. I never doubted Osimhen’s ability to do well in Europe. Despite his travails he worth about 20 million pounds if not more than that and that he is already showing to the world.’’

Osimhen has proved to be one of the hottest properties in Europe this season and his five star performance which earned him man of the match award in Nigeria’s 4-0 win over Libya at the Stephen Keshi Stadium a fortnight ago to reach the third round of the 2020 Olympic Games football tournament as well as the second leg of a qualification round for the U-23 African Cup of Nations(AFCON) showcased his considerable talents and further alarmed Dortmund.

“For me it’s important to perform for my country and club, as well.I thank God I’m back in good shape and doing well again with my club in the Belgian Jupiler. I pray to do well with my club and help Nigeria qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan. I’m excited things are working according to plans. We will take the matches one step at a time and hopefully we will qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games,’’ Osimhen exclusively told The Nigerian Xpress Sports shortly before his departure to Europe.
