Dialogue option has eliminate banditry in Zamfara – Gov. Mohammed tells Army

Zamfara State governor, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle has again reaffirmed that dialogue remains the best option in tackling and ending banditry in the country.
The governor stated this on Tuesday at the opening of 2019 Combat Service Support Training Week of the Nigerian Army holding in Gusau, saying all conflicts that are related to ethnic or religious issues are settled through dialogue.
He said on assumption of office he reviewed the security situation, taking into cognisance the complex issues involved and decided that the best approach to tackling the formidable security challenge, which appeared to defy all the previous efforts made to put an end to it, is through honest and sincere dialogue.
“So far, 345 persons have been released from both the side of the repentant bandits and the vigilante/Yan Sakai which is positive step in the way to peace and security in the said”, he said.
The governor said the repentant bandits have now resorted to collective action against recalcitrant individuals who may decide to unleash terror against innocent persons.
“Only recently one unruly individual who attacked someone was severely dealt with through collective action, and an AK-47 was recovered in the process”, he said.
