President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation in a live broadcast, on Sunday morning, to commemorate June 12 Democracy Day.
Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made the announcement, in Abuja. He said that a church service would be held at the National Christian Centre at 3:00p.m.
Recall that President Buhari had directed, in June 2018, that Nigeria’s Democracy Day, which used to be celebrated on May 29, be moved to June 12 to honour the late Moshood Abiola, winner of the 1993 presidential election.
In accordance with the presidential directive, Lai Mohammed stated that Democracy Day is commemorated every year on June 12th, and that this year’s commemoration will be the fourth, following commemorations in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
“A public lecture is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, June 10th, at 9 a.m. at the National Mosque in Abuja. Then, on Monday, June 13th, beginning at 9 a.m., a Ceremonial Parade will be held at Eagle Square,” he added.
