Covid-19: Only hardened crime suspects’ll be detained after screening -Police

The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Muhammad Adamu, said on Sunday that the Nigeria Police would screen criminal suspects for Coronavirus.

He said henceforth only hardened criminal suspects would be recommended for detention in police cells across the country.

Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said in a statement Sunday evening that Adamu directed that “adequate measures be emplaced to screen persons to be committed into police custody.  “He reiterates that detention of suspects must be reduced to the barest minimum and that only very serious cases, such as terrorism, armed robbery, homicide and other non-bailable offences should warrant detention.”
