COVID-19: NIS suspends processing of passport, migrant e-registration

In line with measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria, the Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammed Babandede, has ordered the suspension of processing passport, and Migrant e-Registration.

Babandede who was speaking via a statement issued on Monday, said the suspension which is for one month, takes effect from March 23 to April 23.

According to the statement signed by NIS Public Relations Officer, Sunday James, the suspension is in line with the federal government’s directives on restrictions on International Flight, following the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The NIS Boss said: “The Service will take advantage of this period to process all pending passport cases and that the public will be informed when they are ready for collection. “The Service regrets any inconvenience caused the general public within this period while assuring Nigerians of our continued service.”
