COVID-19 lockdown: Ogun LG chair aspirant gives cash to constituents

A chairmanship aspirant in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Adesina Adeyemi Adejumo, has commenced the payment of cash transfer to selected residents of the Abeokuta North council.

The chairmanship hopeful gave out the sum of N5,000 each to 10 beneficiaries from each of the 16 Wards in the local government, totaling 160 beneficiaries.

Hon. Adejumo, who is popularly known as ‘Motun De’, on Wednesday, led a delegation of loyalists, including the chief media consultant and spokesman of the chairmanship hopeful, Hon. Lanre Jaji, in company of Hon. Abiodun Akintunde, Hon. Wasiu Afolabi and Idris Salami and handed over the cash to the beneficiaries across all wards in the council.

According to him, the gesture was aimed at providing succor for residents of the local government who have been hard hit by the COVID-19 lockdown ordered by the federal government.

He said “What we are doing is to essentially support Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR the Executive Governor of Ogun State in his bid to fight the Corona virus pandemic.

“We have selected 10 people from each of the 16 wards to benefit from this initiative, which means we have empowered 160 residents in total.

“Those who are benefiting from this are those that we know are genuinely in need of the cash.

“It is also important that I say those we selected were chosen based on their needs at this present moment, regardless of political party affiliations.

“People that have genuine needs. What we are doing is not politics. This is a human intervention as the Coronavirus is a common enemy.”

He added that all hands must be on the deck to eventually defeat the Coronavirus pandemic.
