COVID-19: Lagos govt. donates another batch of PPE to Nigerian Correctional Service

The Lagos State Government has dispatched another batch of medical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), to the Nigerian Correctional Service, Lagos State Command.

The items which included hand gloves, sanitiser, facial marks and inferred thermometers, were received by the State Controller of Prison, SI Iyakoregha, on Monday.

 Iyakoregha, who thanked the Lagos State Government for the gesture, assured that the Correctional Service was well positioned to prevent Coronavirus from spreading to the Custodial Centres.

While also addressing officers, men and inmates at the Maximum Custodial Centre, Kirikiri- Lagos, the controller praised the medical staff at the custodial centre for ensuring a high level of professionalism and surveillance.

He further charged the medical workers who are at the front line in the prevention of COVID-19 to be diligent and committed to their duties.

“There is no case or suspected case of the Coronavirus in any of the facilities in Lagos state command and all hands are on deck to ensure that the Service maintain the status quo, ” he said.

Fielding questions from the inmates, Controller Iyakoregha assured them that the Service was working hard with the office of the state Attorney General to ensure that those who are qualified for the presidential Amnesty are released soon.

He enjoined all inmates to be prayerful and continue to exhibit a high level of personal hygiene while awaiting their release.
