COVID-19 : CSOs in Ekiti hail Mrs. Fayemi for releasing more palliatives to less-privileged

Thirty-five Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have hailed wife of Governor Kayode Fayemi, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, for releasing more palliatives to more vulnerable people at the grassroots to cushion the effect of Coronavirus lockdown.
Mrs. Fayemi approved the release of 1,255 food packs to the CSOs to assist the government to reach out to more less-privileged across the 16 local government areas of the state.
The gesture was consequent upon the resolve to make the distribution of food and other materials more transparent and for them to reach a wider targeted audience.

The targeted beneficiaries include people living with disabilities, people living with HIV/AIDS, widows, orphans, the indigent aged people, among others.
The process of the distribution of the items was supervised by the Special Assistant to the governor on Civil Society Matters, Mr. Biodun Oyeleye, from the state’s Food Bank with the representatives of the 35 CSOs on hand to receive them.
Co-Chairman of Ekiti State Open Government Partnership Organisations, Prof. Christopher Oluwadare, who spoke on behalf of the CSOs, promised to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Ekiti First Lady.
Oluwadare said the involvement of the CSOs was aimed at de-politicisation of the distribution exercise to ensure that it reaches the poorest of the poor and the real needy people suffering the pangs of hunger during the COVID-19 lockdown.
While praising the state government for partnering with the CSOs, Oluwadare described the gesture as a welcome development noting that the groups would always complement the government to make life easier for the masses.
Oluwadare said the groups have put in place effective mechanism to facilitate seamless distribution to the targeted beneficiaries across the local government areas with reliable data and record.

The partnering CSOs include Joint National Association of People Living With Disabilities, People Living With HIV/AIDS, Gender Relevance Programme Initiative, Balm of Gilead Foundation for Sustainable Development and Disability Not A Barrier Foundation.
Others are New Initiative for Social Development, Centre for Better Health and Community Development, Foundation for Justice and Social Development, New Generation for Girls and Women Development, Winning Children Foundation, Environmental Development and Family Health, National Association of Women Journalists, among others.
