COVID-19: Activist urges Kwarans to support Gov. AbdulRazaq to curb spread

Worried by the increasing cases of COVID-19 in Kwara State, a human rights activist and public commentator, Comrade Razaq Olokoba has urged the good people of the state to double their support for Governor Abdur-Razaq Abdur-Rahamn towards curbing the deadly monster.

Olokoba, who is the National Convener of the Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), a coalition of over 70 other human rights group in a statement expressed fears that, “something must be done quickly to arrest the monster,” warning that, “if not, the Kwara State would soon surpass the other states that are already ahead of it in the number of recorded case!”

According to him, the onus is now on the people of the state to complement the efforts of the workaholic governor, who he said has been doing well in the fight against the deadly disease, by complying with all the preventive measures put on ground for the benefit of the generality of the people.

While asserting that complacency could be dangerous, the concerned Kwara State born frontline social critic therefore admonished the people to adhere strictly to using of face masks, observing social-distancing, keeping away from the crowded places, using sanitisers regularly, washing of hands and keep the environment clean.

Olokoba, who is the conviction that, all these measures are not too difficult to observed wondered why people are not cooperating with the governor who means well for them, reminding that, “the pandemic is real and never has respect for anybody irrespective of tribe or status.”

The CDG boss therefore used the medium to commend Governor Abdur-Razaq for doing an excellent job in the state, insisting that, “such a performer deserves the people’s full support and maximum cooperation to do more to ensure more democracy dividends at their door steps.”

He added that, “having critically examined and monitored the governor’s for this while, we can say authoritatively and unequivocally that he has passed our integrity test that we conduct periodically. And it is our belief that, with encouragement through people’s support, assistance and cooperation, he would do more in all the sectors of economy. His prudent management and judicious use of fund is heart-warming. He has proved beyond reasonable doubt that he is an expert in financial management.”

Concluding, the highly impressed vocal activist therefore urged the governor not to relent in his efforts at moving the state to another level of an enviable standard, assuring him that, posterity would be very kind to him because Kwara people are always appreciative of good work.
